NEW YUCK CITY
i have bass and dats ranging from 12"-20" in a 180 but getting 300 next saturday. my fish at times chase each other and hit driftwood against the glass causing me to remove it. any ideas for setting up a tank with large fish ...pics would be great

Bare bottom or tile bottom and nothing. Let the fish be the center piece :), I like 3D backgrounds too!

Sounds like you need more sturdier bits of wood! Either that or because you have a lot of mid-swimming fish just go for simple sandy substrate and a few nice looking rocks strategically placed. Or blue stones and a sunken pirate ship? Or tiles? Do you want a natural looking tank or not?

If you've got bottom dwellers like plecs or loaches as well as the bass/dats you could try some lower pieces of wood that don't sit up too high and get in the way of the active fish.

Bigger peaces of driftwood, a sand bottom, some larger river rocks, the wood and rocks should be big and secured enough not to be shoved around. A black or 3d backround adds alot too

This is my 350 and I just converted to Geo's, however I had larger fish prior to and never had a problem:

I had that problem in my 220. I had 2 big pieces of Driftwood and a clay pot on top of medium sand. It looked good, but if i could do it again it would be bare. Go bare bottom black background and killer lighting. It's in my opinion one of the best looks you can do. I had that setup on my piranha grow out tank. Except my background was red.
