I don't think you can see very well in the pictures and I am not exactly sure what you would call it. I actually read about it on here awhile back. My aro is getting the elongated gill flaps and not sure what to do about it and what causes it. I woud appreciate any help you guys and gals can offer.

Thanks
Danny

looks like the beginning stages of gill curl
water quality is the main cause
sometimes a powerhead and increased aeration can help a bit

The second picture was taken right after I cleanded the tank so it looks real hazy, both pictures were taken with a camera phone also. Right now he is in a 150 gallon tank but there is a 300 sitting in the living room. I have not had a chance to reinforce my living room floor yet that is why it is just sitting. Now would you do 1 or 2 powerheads?

we're not saying that the water quality looks bad based on the pictures. we're saying that bad water quality is the cause of gill curl.
powerheads are up to you. depends on how strong it is i guess.

do you have any air stones, couldnt see any/ why dont you move you spray bar to the water level? whats your water parameters?
