I currently looking to build a sort of hybrid tank system where the tank water goes up and out through one or two 36" flower pots before going into the sump which I will be making also. The flower pots will be planted with typical house plants in gravel on a flood and drain bell siphon system such as this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzKUzcdeaI8&feature=related. My big issue is buying the pvc piping in the sizes needed since I would need three different sizes I havent found anyplace near me that is willing to sell me the sizes i need in one to two feet quantity that I need. Everywhere they sell I believe either 8ft or 10ft of pvc which is way much more than I need. So does anyone have any ideas as to where to get about 2ft of pvc in the sizes I need? I'm located in Manhattan, NY and live in an apartment so having 3, 6ft pvc pipes laying around that I may never need won't sit well with the wife. thanks in advance. Check with Lowes. They sell pipe in short lengths at the stores around me. If not, you can always Craigslist it or just throw it away.stixx;3197059; said:

if I understand this it fills up then drains on its own. seems like an overly complicated system. pvc straight up from the bulkhead fitting to about an inch below the max water level you want, elbow, elbow, straight down to a little above the level you want to stop draining, strainer
