Looking for a CO2 system for my 55 gallon i have T5 lights and now need CO2. I don't have crazy amount of money so i m looking for something that will be effective but within my price range. Was looking at Hydor Exclusive CO2 Green NRG System for Plant Aquarium its around 119 bucks but i m new to the whole CO2 setup. Plan on it being a very heavy planted tank. Also ferts wise liquid way to go or dry ferts in the long run? Thanks

what is your budget for the regulator, tank, and reactor/diffusor? and dry ferts are much more effective/cheaper in the long run

Ok guys, I was naive. I did not know you needed all that for plants. I really don't want to spend all that much. I've been spending way too much on my tanks and I thought buying plants for my FW would in the long run help my costs - I know, naive. I thought that fish give off Co2. I thought my light was good enough, however 2 of my sword plants are already dying. Tell me what the cheapest, you think, I could go. I really don't want more electrical stuff to play with. I have four flouvals plus another type of filter so you can see I have so much electrical to deal with. Whining? Yes, I am, but it's only cuz I was so dumb. Please let me know what you guys think - the least I can do.:)

Fish do give off CO2 just not enough to really do anything the fish's biggest contribution to plants is their waste. If your plants are just rotting away there may be something else wrong with your setup, even without CO2 injection most common plants will live they just wont grow quickly.
What do you have for a setup, lights (type, wattage and spectrum), substrate, do you dose ferts and how long do you leave the lights on?

As far as a quick, cheap setup I do DIY CO2(sugar-water and yeast) 3 2 liter bottles hooked up to a gang vavle and running to a Red Sea CO2 reactor.

I am think around 120-130 would be my budget maybe a little lower

anyone got any suggestions trying to keep my budget around 150-200ish lemme know please :D

Don't bother with co2 injection at all. It isn't necessary for swords. I'd bet money that your swords are dying because you purchased them within the last 3 months, and they are melting away their long stemmed, round leaf foliage. This is because the plant was grown emersed, and when submerged the structure of the leaves is not the same. Once these leaves dye, pull them off, you should see many smaller skinnier leaves starting to grow. These are the submerged leaves.
