I am setting up a few more tanks, and want more driftwood. As you know, it's VERY expensive at pet stores - so where can I get some that isn't too expensive? I could use a bunch, or piece by piece. Maybe you have some hanging around that you aren't using.

Will pick up, or have shipped to me, in Northern MA. Thanks

The shipping drives cost on large pcs.....I usually make an offer on anything I am interested in. Especially when if its more than pc....I got my biggest pc from a vendor on here but the shipping made it expensive....

I supply freshwater drift wood to two of my LFS'

Give me an idea of what you are looking for, sizes, shape etc, and I can get it for you.

Obviously it will be cleaned, and cut. Would you prefer it be already mounted to slate or just ready to mount?

MeBN - Actually, what I was looking for is those large pieces that sink - not the buoyant ones with 2 or 3 holes in it attached to slate, as sold at pet stores.
If there is a specific type, or name, for this stuff, let me know.
Size: Any size - just want to decorate my tanks nicely - but my largest aquariums are 75's, for size reference. I also use rocks (from the beach) so it will be about half rocks, half wood, like my other tanks already are.

Yeah, I don't typically go for the boring pieces, except by request.
I have had two pieces in my 150. One is 3ft long by 1 ft tall and about 2in thick, very aged chunk off of a tree that had to have been 24 inches around or larger.

The other was just under 4 ft with 9 different spines coming off it.

I am currently gathering small stumps and rootballs. "Small" being anywhere from 12 in base and 14in tall to 22 in base and 24 in tall.
I just sold a piece to a LFS, It was a 8 inch trunk that had been struck by lightening and split about 14 inches down, it was hollow all the way through, about a 4 inch hole, I mounted it at an angle, it was about 32 inches long x 20 high.

All of the stuff I get will float, so needs to either be strapped down, mounted or wedged in.

Usually the slate is covered by the substrate. if not, you can spread aquarium silicone over it then sprinkle your substrate on it and let dry.

I'm new to this - so what is the curing process? Are they aquarium / fish ready, or will they continue to leach into the water?
Give me a PM with a couple ballpark figures for some of the smaller / medium pieces. Maybe some example pics? Thanks!

I got a huge 5foot long piece 2 feet high and wide from manzman...good guy to deal with my piece with shipping was about $130. it sank in 2 weeks....excuse the dirty glass lol
