one among the 4 gars i got is having a bent back(i guess it was born deformed or could it have hurt itself during shipping)
i don't want to give it back to the lfs
it is eating well and i don't find it to be struggling to swim or anything
but will it get better or will it stay like that forever

here are a few pics

most likely a damaged back, not a deformity. since it is young it MIGHT recover, so keep an eye on it and make sure it will still eat and can move effectively...if it starts convulsing when spooked or loses control of posterior fins, it should probably be euthanized.

what size tank is the fish in now? usually when a small gar is put into too large of a tank, this happens more frequently than if a small gar (more appropriately) is put into a small tank and stepped up from there with its growth--

I had a larger longnose that "broke" it's back during moving. It was bent for about two months before returning to normal.

it was like that at the lfs itself just didn't want to leave it there all alone
it swims pretty well
does eat
and has the use of it tail also
right now it is in a 90g nearly cube (30"x30"x24"H) tank
