hey it's my first post here at MFK though I've been browsing this forum for quite some time now. This site has been very helpful and i always find the solutions to my problems from other people's threads. However, I've decided to go ahead and register since I can't seem to find the proper diagnosis for some sort of parasite or fungus on my GT's pectoral fin..
It's too big to be ich and I am quite concerned.. Can somebody please help me with it?
I house a lone GT in a 75 gallon tank.. Here is a pic (sorry i used a crappy phone cam).. Thanks much!

Looks like possible bacteria infection. Would have to test for gram stain positive or negative to know what type if it is bacterial. Could be columnaris.

Could also be fin rot.

Could also just be a little injury from digging or generally being a cichlid :)

Maybe some of the more experienced guys can chime in.

I'd dose with salt and start water changes though.

To be honest I would do nothing. I've seen small noduals like that come and go they are most likly viral, harmless and will run it's course and burn out, after a while it will just go away on it's own. Keep your water clean 50% weekly water changes and provide a quality pellet as the staple diet NLS Thera +A or Hakari Bio-Gold+ are both good for them. You could add a vitamin block to the tank to help boost the imune syatem but that's about it. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
