Ok so I am in the mood to change up my tank some. I am going to be looking to offload my oscars and most likely my silver dollars as well. Remaining in the tank will be 2 pictus and a green terror. I dont mind getting rid of the pictus either but I do enjoy the looks of the docile green terror who schools with the silver dollars and such right now.

None the less with the oscars gone I would like to add some plants to my tank as well as some MTS to keep sand churned. I woudl like some more colorful and active fish to add to my tank. I am thinking of going to a semi native tank with perhaps a sunfish and rainbow darters. Are there other species that would add to the color and get along? Would the green terror if docile still not match up well with them (I am guessing no but the wife loves Spot)

Details about the tank. It is a 125 gallon tank with marineland LED lighting though I also have a 36 inch T5 I can throw back on for the plants. The filtration is currently covered by an FX5 and an XP4. Inline heaters as well. I have an bubble wand in there as well. substrate is pool filter sand and I will be removing my lava rock most likely and adding in some more natural stone to go along with my drift wood and future plants.

Tank gets weekly if not twice weekly water changes as is now. Water is tested about every other week to once each 3 weeks. Also have 2 QT tanks up and running with guppies in them to keep them cycled if needed and to act as treat feeders.

My godson tends to love the active colorful fish as does the wife so I woudl love to go that route. I would like easy to deal with plants as well such as annubis who can deal with low light as I do not want to add CO2 unless I have to or run the extra strip lighting for too long each day so as to mitigate algae.

So looking for active in all three levels of the tank. I figure the darters would handle the bottom and sunfish woudl handle the middle. Darters only get up to 3 inch so I figure crayfish and such are out as well though they would add a cool activity level as well. So keeping all this in mind can you all shoot me some ideas of colorful fish that woudl get along well?
