I think its a gar, but I'm not too sure, so I'm placing it in this forum. Sorry for the low quality pic. Incase you can't tell, the tail is slightly yellow and there is a black dot at the base of the tail. On to questions =)

1. What is it?

2. What size will it grow to in captivity?

3. Can it fit in a 75 gallon?

4. Are they happy alone, in pairs, or in groups of more then 3?

5. Are they jumpers?

6. What sort of decor would they prefer?

7. Is there anything special I should take note of for this fish?

TIA!

i believe they are yellow fin barracudas. not sure blurry pic.

def yellow finned barracuda. i heard they grow like a foot and a half

Thanks guys. Whats the minimum tank size for these fish? One of the links you provided has a member keeping them in a 46g bowfront, but aquariacentral says differently, so whats the real deal?

nope not a yellow fin baracuda at least we call them differnt names here like slant nose gar or rocket gar or hujeta gar or hujeta barracuda i hate common names but yes those are Ctenolucius hujeta gets around 12-14'' in aquariums but can reach around 2 feet in the wild of all the freshwater barracudas or false gars this fish is supposed to be the eazyist to get onto prepared foods but this can still be a difficult task

tank size the longer the tank the better and the tank needs to be wider then the fish so it can turn around a 125 gallon 6'x18'' can't remember how tall would be a great home for these and would most likely be able to house them for life

they can do just fine in groups the only thing special is they useually will only take live food for the first few weeks then you should be able to get them to eat foods like shrimp or fish fillets or worms like night crawlers just cut them into bite size pieces

a 75 would be a little small but seeing as they go into much smaller tanks you could keep a few in there for a while but longer tanks are better but at that size (looks around 6'') they would be happy for a while
