Hi all. I'm looking for a fish that can live happily in a 36 inches long, 20 inches high, and 24 inches wide (based on water level, not tank) tank.

I actually wanted to get an oscar, but some people have said that its not really adequate, while others say it is. Still, I thought it would be good to get more ideas before I make a final decision.

I'm looking for a carnivorous fish that will actively chase after feeders like an oscar does. No piranhas though, since they are banned here. Also, my tank is completely bare except for some medium sized stones coevering the air stone. TIA!

PS: Pics or links to the suggested fish would be great as well=)

ok
feeders are never a good choice if you aren't going to breed them and grow them yourself, so that they have all nutrients reqd by the fish
a 70g should be do fine for an oscar, GT, FH, RD

all these are quite interactive with the owner

i say this once more:
if the fish doesn't get the proper nutrients it is an open call to HITH and many other diseases

That's good. But still, don't make feeders a staple. Sorry you aren't planning on an oscar, they are awesome fish; but yeah...those tank dimensions are a bit odd; 36 inches is way too small for an oscar.

I'm trying to think of some other predators....hmmm. Maybe halfbeaks? They are predators.
