Need good pump recommendation. 1500-2000gph

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ive been using a pair of Q1 6000's for about a year and half and they've been great. Quiet, efficient and cost about $125 each. Can be run inline or submersed.

Ive also used Reeflos which are great but expensive and non-submersible.

QuietOne 9000. It pumps 1500gph@8' and 1600-1700gph@6' of head pressure. Very quiet and energy efficient at 125watts. Around $200.
The Laguna maxflo series are very good also, but more money about $250.
Reeflo is an external pump but the hybrid series comes with interchangeble impellers making the Snapper/Dart pump 1700gph@6'/2500gph@6' respectively. Low current draw, about 95watts/150watts respectively, but not cheap at around $330. I will be upgrading my setup with one of these soon.

How high does the pump need to push water?

I would look at the Laguna Max Flo 2000, thru 2900 models; they are quiet and very efficient.

+1. Check eBay for these pumps, great prices. They're awesome and absolutely the most efficient pumps on the market.

I used a Rio hyperflow 26hf. 90w pumps 1600gph. 1000 hog actual at 5 ft.

I got the max flow 2000 and its very quiet. The noise is comparable to my eheim 1250 pump. The only con I see is that it has to be submersed while its operating.
