I have an Oceanic Trickle Filter 150 on my 120 and am thinking about adding more mechanical filtration. I have prefilters on the intake tubes inside the overflow boxes. I use bioballs for the bio filtration inside the sump. I have put filter padding on the drip tray but when I do so it restricts the water flow over the tray to a small area. I have read that some people use "scrubbies" from the grocery store to add mechanical filtration. My question is, where can I put them in the sump? Can you put them on top of the bioballs? Do I need more mechanical filtration?

Thanks

You could put it at the bottom of the sump . I have used it for almost a year now and i can say that it works well.

I put egg crate between the filter padding and the drip plate to distribute water more evenly. I stick those scrubbers every where I have a spot... They accumulate allot Of BB.

"scrubbies"
No, not for mech..used them in place of bio balls for bio
Always used quilt batting(WalMart) to get the gunk out before it got to my scrubbies
