i got 4 orinos and one is being a little runt..other 3 are eating everything but the runt is only eating frz dried shrimp..what can i do to boost his size or should i get rid of him before others eat him (i dont want him to get eatin) all feedback will be helpful thank you..

id say feed him what he eats at that small of a size hes too little to pellet train maybe just maybe when he gets a bit bigger he will try out different food on his own but you can also try adding some of that garlic food additive stuff for finicky fish

Keep feeding him or maybe move him to a 10g for a bit to see if he beefs up. DOnt get rid of the runt....my runt ended up being the nicest of the pack.

I would just move him to a 10 galon like gangster mentioned and try to get him to put on some size

We're having a similar problem with the oro's we just got too. We're going to either move him to our 10 g or throw a divider up in the tank until they even out size wise. In our opinion, there's nothing wrong with the littlest oro he's just growing slower. We'll probably feed him as often as he'll eat to try and speed up his growth once we get him by himself. Good luck!

I'm in the same boat Mike, i have three o's as well, and the last little runt will not budge from eating krill:nilly:

When you are raising multiple Cichla this is alway's the case there is alway's going to be a runt or two so either way your going to have to deal with it now or later. Yes you can get another tank and seperate them but down the road when you try to mix them it will still be an issue trust me. I have put my 10'' with my 2' and it's Cichla Play as usual. Catching up is never really going to happen. I have been raising Cichla for FIVE years and some are same size and some are still smaller just how it is.

I am a habitual over feeder, It just so happens that works well for P-bass lol. it also helps to have a clean up crew like some clown loaches to eat any left over food so you can stuff the bass. I would also feed what the small bass will not eat first wait until everybody else is full then feed the small guy so he can get his fair share.
