Just got home from work and found a large batch of eggs on a piece of driftwood. My stock is 4 bass 2 indos 1 flagtail 2 red head severums and 1 super red severum. I believe the eggs belong to the 2 redheads. They're keeping everone from that area. My question is what do I do. The eggs definitely wasn't there this morning. Do I set up my spare 55 gallon remove the driftwood with the eggs and then transfer the parents or just leave everything as it is. Never had eggs before any help greatly appreciated

well it depends on the tank how big is the one is it in and what other fish are with them. it is the red heads looking at the pictures. Severums are good at taking care of there offspring but it takes them a wile i have been trying to breed my greens for like 4 months now and they have laid eggs 4 times and have eaten them every time. they just laid 2 days ago for the 5th time and now i have wigglers it looks like. i would say leave it because they might not even be fertilized it can take the male a few spawns to figure that out. ive heard of severums taking up to 20 spawns to get it right but once they do there great at it. heres a picture of my pair that has been spawing for me IMAG0118.jpgIMAG0130.jpg

If u want to breed them get them there own tank...

Maybe just the picture but the eggs look very white like there not fertilized. Normally they should have a translucent yellow when first laid. Then they begin to turn kinda grayish as the embryo developes. If they look chalky white those are dead.
If it was me I would move the other fish if you want to try to keep the fry alive. Or you could wait till they hatch and just before free swim you could suck out the fry and raise them in a 10 gallon tank. The parents will keep a good job of keeping the other fish away while tending there fry. So if you don't have another place to move the other fish I would wait till free swim and then suck them out. You'd want to prepare for fry food. Culture microworms I think is best. You can also use hardboiled egg yolk I have always used this with good success along with Microworms and decapsulated brine eggs.

very informative answer thanks

I would also agree that the eggs look white. which is normal it takes a male a few tries to get the idea of his role. if you tank is not over crowded just leave them for nolw and let them practice. moving parents and eggs right now will just stress them out to the point of eating eggs or possible fry.

OK. So I came home today and the eggs are a dark biege color only 2 or 3 eggs are milky white. The rest are clearly much darker
