Ok so heya all today i picked up 2 pbass (cichla) off another fish keeper local to me.

Basically i would like to try get an ID, am also wondering if they are developing "The Dreaded Flexibacter" and wondering bout stress from my Oscar.

So the story goes, the old owners water temp was at bout 26C(79F), ph (7.5) and had Nitrate of bout 40ppm. So my tank is sitting at 29C(84F), ph 7.0 and 0 ammonia/nitrite/nitrate. So after catching the pbass and getting ready for transport they did bang themselves pretty hard a couple of times which i was very afraid of :( Then transported in esky for bout 10mins drive and straight to my house which i then placed air stone and created a drip feed from my tank to slowly help adjust water parameters and temp. So after bout an hour in esky till temp was very similar i decided it was time to place into my tank! Everything went well and i left lights off to help reduce stress etc. Have been out for bout 5 hours since placed in tank and come home to check on them and turn lights on and i noticed some white patches (not sure if they were there before with lights off) as shown in pic which is my main concern at this point! So i then took some fotos while lights on then turned off again and am now posting for info!

So with that sum up of my story i ask 3 things
1st: White patches to be worried about?
2nd: A certain ID from someone with more experience would be great
3rd: Should i worry bout my Oscar harassing them a little

Tank size 150gal
Oscar = 20cm
Pbass = 14 and 17cm
3x Plecos

The look like mono hybrids. YOu did everything right. The only other thing i would have done is to have an airstone in w/ them during transport. OTher than that they look good...just need to settle in. They should be fine w/ your oscar and should appreciate the good water quality of your tank.

Sounds like you did everything right. You could increase the temp to 87 and add some aquarium salt just in case the white spots are ich caused by the stress of the move.

0 nitrates??! Is it even cycled??

J/w cuz my tap water has 5-10ppm to begin w/ so i find it 100% immposible to not have any waste/nitrates

thx for the replies guys makes me feel less worried :) and yes F1 VET tank has been cycled has been running for bout 5 weeks before the bass with oscar and plecos also used stability to help with cycle and i just did a water change 2 days before picking up bass with rainwater

mmmk been a week since starting this thread, treated the little beasts! and they are fine eating well, now just gotta try get them onto hikari massivore/food stix. They have had couple gold fish feeders once a week and rest of week ive been mixing crushed up food stix into frozen blood worms i tried frozen brine shrimp today they had no interest at all. So guna stick with the bloodworms/pellet mix for now unless anyone else has some ideas?

also been doing about a 20% water change once a week!
