Hey guys,

I went home to clean my tank last weekend and had a fish that had a white bubblish looking thing on a 1 inch frontosa. It almost looked like it had a hump (as an adult might) but it looked white. I was thinking maybe it got burned by my heater. The temp is 78deg. and I added a little salt before I left as he/she seemed to be doing fine. My mom called today to inform me that it is still white but has now sunk in. She said the fish looked like its breathing harder then the other fish. I am trying to figure out what it is and what to treat with asap. Unless I can somehow manage to get to orlando (I am almost 2 hours away) and get a tank and the fish a quaranteen tank is out of the question, as my mom would be unable to handle that. I am looking to fix the problem in a 150gal tank that holds a syno cat, helianthus and lots of frontosa. Pleasee help I dont want to lose this fish and I dont want the other to get infected. =[

Man i read both ur threads u might have worst luck then me...

Sorry about this bad news Ash.. going to ask Lupin.. he may have some idea what is going on..

A photo will definitely help much better, Ash. If you could take shots, it'll be quicker this way. Did the bump look like it could burst?

Hey, she said she can try to take pictures... she has no idea how to get them on a computer though and I am no sure if she has a digital camera I think she meant film. I can ask her and see if she wont get frustrated trying to do it lol. No when I saw it when it was bubbled up looking it didnt look like it would burst.

and yes today is a no good day =[

Ok so this is the best she can do for me as she as no digi cam. A cell phone pic. Although you can see it pretty good. It looks pretty bad from when I last saw it. I dont remeber it being that big when it was bubble like. It sunk in =[
She said she hasnt seen anyone pick on him/her yet either. I dont know what it is but I reallly dont want it to potentialy be able to infect any of my other fish either if whatever it is can do that. If it survives through the night and tomorrow then I may be picking a 10gal and it up... we will see.

Ash, could you please separate it in a box or have a divider at least? I'd apply iodine solution preferably Betadine on it to disinfect the wound assuming we may be dealing an infected wound. Betadine works very well for deep wounds on fish in my experience. Just don't apply it near the eyes or gill areas. Use Q-tip when doing so or a small wad of cotton.

Alright, well it's really not looking good for him =[ I did manage to meet up with my parents who were kind enough to bring the fish out to my work area (half an hour from them) so that I could drive home from there. I have the fish in a 10gal tank. Unfortunetly I dont have a heater atm for it =\ its at my parents and I thought it was here bleh. It's running off a sponge filter and it has towels over it to keep it nice and dark. I bought the Betadine (not cheap.) and dabbed it on with a q-tip toward the mid-back of the wound so it would be away from gills and eyes. I did see the betadine get on the wound so I am hoping it will help. It looks like one of the fish try to bite at the wound today =[ not really helpful. It looks a smidge fuzzy to me but I dunno if its just the flesh.

This fish did the death swim earlyer today and recovered from it (before I got him, when he was at my parents in the morning). It wasnt showing stress colors or breathing hard from what I could see now that I have it. However it did swim a little oddly (like it didnt know where to go). Then it shoved its self inbetween the rock that I have in the tank and now at this point I dont know what else to do other then wait and see if it makes it through the night.

This is how much I <3 my freakin fish.

That's really tough, Ash.:( I just hope though it will recover. I do wonder how this white area happened. Injuries though when disinfected with iodine solution will heal a little quickly and prevented from being infected which would otherwise kill the fish. I'm crossing my fingers for your fish. I know how much he means to you.:)

If you have spare time, doing a daily water change by as much as 50% may help. Every bit of doing what is best for your fish, helps.
