I have a 2.5'' American tiger Dat,i bought 3- 1.5" Dats today, the tiger had been in the tank about 2 weeks so he would be the boss of the Dats.Well he is chasing the new Dats relentlessly what can i do to stop this??Thanks:WHOA:

get more. leave the lights on. rearrange stuff. let them work it out. best i got.

I had 2 AT's, 2 IT's and a NTT. The order of size was AT 5", AT 4", IT 3.5", IT 3", NTT 2".

The bigger AT would harass all but the NTT and just about killed the smaller AT, he had gouges on his sides and preventing him from eating.

The IT's would go at it, but they all left the NTT alone so I kept him and got rid of the rest. Goodluck;).

I have 15 dats ranging from 2" to 13"... The 13" IT dat beats all the other dats daily and mainly does it when it's feeding time. I have tried a lot of things by rearranging, adding more dats, more fish, but it didn't work for me. I got tired of it and placed the 13" IT in his own tank. Now my 8" NTT dat took his place and beats up on all the other smaller dats...

Those that do keeps dats from beating up each other and stable all the time are lucky/pros...

My tank is a 125gal,I just put the AT in a 20 gal for now to let the other three put some size on.I noticed a little scratching from the smaller 3 fish after the bigger fish was removed so i raised the temp and added some salt this is the right thing to do right??This is my 1st venture with Dats so i may sound a little stupid, but i am sure you guys have a ton of knowledge and i hope to learn from you,Thanks.

Look really close for white spots... If there are some I medicate.

I just got an NGT a few weeks ago and yesterday I saw some spots smaller then a grain of salt on his fins.

Some say just add salt but a very credible source tells me if you see spots you have to medicate. There is a kind that I use from that good source not sure on the brand name but it is called QUICKCURE and it is only harmful to tetras.

But scratching can be many things. Tetracycline takes care of a wide variety of parasitic diseases. And ALL dats should be QT'd in tetacycline for 3 days IMO.

Call Fantastic Fins, it's a fish store here in MI they know what they are talking about and tell them Aaron said for you to call. 734-464-3523 ask for Chris or Dale.

It's only been 1 day....relax.....
with groups of dats, You'll always find they will establish a pecking order, and the alpha male will prevail. This is totally normal, and tigers do fight and scrap. This doesn't stop with age either.
But if you see any serious physical damage/wounds: occur, then best to move the bully.
Scratching/flicking action is also quite normal for tigers, but if u see White spot then treat with med.

Adding salt IMO is the safest way to get rid of ick, plus dats are very tolerant to salt. I always go with the salt/heat method to get rid of ick and it works every time. Now if it is something other than ick, than yes the appropriate med should be used ;)

I would just leave them alone, let them get used to eachother. It's a normal thing for tigers to act like that. If someone gets a bad injury, then I would move it.
