so my trimac pair is about 6 inches each, and had them in a 150 gallon for a little while until the male started to knock down the divider. So now I have the male in then 150 and the female in a 100. My question is when will I know when they are ready to breed. Also any other advice u can give me will be great

Also they were breeding in a tank that the guy that I got them from, and I have seen there fry and have some

They probably lost their pair bond when you bought them. Here is what I would try switch the male and female around give the big tank. Then feed her up real well for a month or so this will also let her claim the tank as hers. Put in the divider and secure it well rhen put the male back in. Make sure the divider has a hole in it only she can get through. With thisaproach they should spawn fairly quickly. Always have the divider there for her protection from him. Another option would be find a smaller male to put with her as they will still spawn. A lot of male Cichligs are female agressive.
Good luck hope this helps.

Thank you very much, will definitely try this

You can also drop the temp for a while let the tank just be room temp. Then put a heater in after a while and jack the temp up to about 82°.
I had to do this with my pair...
