wats the best cheapest way to build a durable stand for a 180g acrylic tank?

its 6'.25 x 2ft wide

Like a wall for houses, box frame for bottom of tank, spaced out with studs, and another box frame for the base. Most cheap and efficient imo.

Oh and if ur gonna run a sump, stain it with deck weather proof 2-3 coats, it'll last forever cause its indoors :P

This is how I built mine for my 125g

I got a full sheet of 3/4" plywood cut into 4" strips and then laminated them together which gave me the rough dimensions of a 2x4 but I was working with straight materials. I did use a little bit of 2x4 in the corners.

I used 3.5" # 8 wood screws on the the 2x4. I used 1.75" # 8 wood screws on the 1x4 strapping and 3/4" plywood. I predrilled every hole before screwing it together. I built the stand 1" longer and 1" wider than the aquarium. This gives you a little room when laying the tank in place. I built the top box and the bottom box first. The most important thing. Let the wood bare the weight of the tank not the screws. Good Luck!! (125 Gal) 73" long, 19" wide, 32.5" high

Go with 2x4s. They are cheap. Would cost about $30.

Bassinmike85,
I don't know how to link up my origional post, but you can see all the pics under "108 Tank Stand". Take whatever pictures you need and good luck.

Just make sure to put a piece of 3/4" plywood on top of the stand. Acyrlic tanks need their entire bottom supported.

thanks for the tip on surpporting the acyrlic tanks,, AS I'm looking to get one soon ,, also nice job on the stand,, keep up the good work...
