Need help...C02 question...

So i just finished my diy c02 for my 55g planted. I did the ol' 2 liter bottle with the yeast thing. My question is how long should i keep the c02 goin in the tank? I know youre supposed to have a certain amount of c02 and i dont wanna kill my fish or plants. PLEASE help me out here

you need to meter it somehow and try to keep the levels around 30 ppm using a drop checker.
