i recently set-up my new-to-me 280 gallon tank. its been in action for about 1 1/2 weeks. my LFS said if i put some gold fish in it it would speed up the process to where i could put my peacock bass in sooner! so i bought 2 dozen gold fish and 2 days ago they said the water was good for fish. idk what the water levels are at but they said they would be ok.

the problem:
my water is cloudy and some what green looking?

i built a sump out of a 75 gallon tank and i have bio-balls and some type of mesh filter the LFS said i should use. Also have carbon media.

i wish i could give yall more details but i dont know a whole lot about all the water parameters and such. ask questions and i will do my best to give u answers!!!

thx for any help!

Tank def isn't cycled. My 500g tank I used 300goldfish for 3 weeks and it wasn't totally cycled. The green could be an algea bloom, what are u running for lights and how long? Try some algea stuff u add and see if that helps. What are u doing for mech? Are they filter socks? U prob need either socks or A canister like an fx5
