I'm designing a new tank and am trying to do as much research as possible before I break ground in about three years. I've pretty much design the tank and need help on what would be a good filtration system for this tank. Here are the specifics for the tank:

The base is 144"X72"X64" tall
The tank is 126"X65.75"X55" tall

That gives me a 57.5 sqft swimming space and a 1972 gallon tank. So that you guys know that I am serious here are some screen shots from my CAD software:

I've been reading up on an article written by the Colorado Zoo and Aquarium on elasmobranch LSS and really like the idea of using ozone, but am unsure about its stability and it efficiency. Any advice helps. Thanks

Chris

A lot of what you are asking depends on what species of elasmobranchs you are planning on keeping and the bio-load your expecting. I would avoid 90 degree angles, maybe have two 45 instead. You should read the Elasmobranch Husbandry Manual. Fortunately the whole thing is free online on the Columbus Zoo web site. Chapter six is about LSS for elasmos. http://www.colszoo.org/internal/elasmo_2005/page2.htm
The guys that wrote that chapter were guest speakers in one of my classes. They are good guys and really know what they are talking about.

Yeah I read up on chapter 6 and want to keep to Claifornia Horns and 2 Grey Bamboo Sharks and maybe about 10-14 8 inch fish. It would be a FOWLR tank and I was looking into a sump, pump, RK2 protein skimmer with ozone unit, Aquadyne bead Filter and then back into the tank the output to the protein skimmer would go back into the sump and about 70% of the water would bypass directly to the bead filter. Does this sound reasonable or am I completely off track? Thanks
