Hey guys, need some help figuring out what is going on with my Congicus. About two weeks ago, he started showing redness is his dorsal finlets. This has increased through his anal fin and now even under neath his belly. His tail fin is also starting to fray. He is noticeably breathing heavier than normal.

I initially thought my tank might have gone though a mini-cycle and this was signs of ammonia poisoning, but my parameters are all in check 0 ammonia, 0 nitrate, <10 ppm nitrates.

There are a bunch of other polypterus in the 180g with him as well as a Jardini, none of which show any of these problems. Tank has been established for well over a year with no issues or fish added.

Thanks in advance, I appreciate any insights.

Looks like septicemia. See this with bloat too. Would move to another tank. Hold feedings and try some maracyn2 or triple sulfa.

Ah, ok. That seemed to match the description in the sticky, but the pictures I found online looked a lot more blotchy, I suppose they are probably farther along.

Thanks for the advice, will do!
