I noticed my female festae just sits at the bottom of the tank and just lays there next to a big piece of driftwood... Its been going on for two days already and i havent seem her eat anything either. When ever a more dominant tank mate passes by she just gets out of the way and just comes back around to the same spot again...it seems as if she just kinda drops down when she stops swimming (????).:cry:

****Does anyone know what this is and if so whats the fix please, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is this a festae that has been in your tank for awhile or did you just get it two days ago? Either way, I would turn up the heat on the tank and dose with salt.

1. Quarantine the fish (if it is a disease, you don't want everyone else affected)
2. Heat up quarantine tank to 86
3. Dose with salt 1tbs per 5 gallons
4. Check water parameters, adjust with lots of water changes if necessary

Good luck!

I dont actually have a free right now. It sucks im gonna try to get one this weekend. Im gonna turn up the heater and just treat the whole tank with salt for now. Maybe do a huge water change today, everyone else looks fine for now. Thanks guys.

I had a gt that did this, and for the next 2 years he didnt stop. he was like a gobie. he just sat at the bottom whenever he could. don´t get me wrong he was perfectly healthy and could swim well. he just chose to sit around all the time instead of swimming.

O man lol i just read my replies, these damn smartphones and there stupid keyboards >[

Anyways, i just got a quarantine tank today and will be setting it tomorrow. I did a big wc on my big tank and treated it with salt, i also raised the temp to 84.... hopefully that will help her out a bit. I was told it might be some kind of parasite, anyone out there with some experience in this care to chime in??? I dont think shes purposely trying to sit at the bottom all day, she doesnt look good. Man i hope she makes it :/

Thanks

I would have left her tank alone today if you just bought a quarantine tank. But go ahead and set it up, then fill it with water from the tank she's already in. I think she has an internal parasite. If your gonna raise the temp then make sure to add more oxygen. I don't think you need to raise temp tho. Add some salt to help digestive and possibly pass parasite. Might look into a mild treatment if you notice white poo.
Good luck bro
