I would like to convert a old HOB refugium from CPR into a heater holding chamber to keep the heaters away from my stingrays. I have everything except the fact that I have a glasscages 240 gallon. It won't fit as is on the back of my tank because I have filters in the openings for filters. I am trying to hook it up in one of the other two sections, but I need to expand the arms that go into and out of the unit. I will attach bulkheads to each and plumb it with normal pvc so that I can modify it myself. The problem I have is finding the bulkheads to work.

One size has a hole that is 1 3/8 diameter and the other has a hole that is 3/4 diameter. A 3/4 standard bulkhead should work for the output, but I can't find a bulkhead small enough for the input. Any one have any ideas short of drilling larger holes in the refugium?

Glass-holes.com or something like that. I buy all my bulk heads from them and they have a variety of sizes.

I bet the input just had vinyl tubing jammed through, with some pipe tape or something to seal it in. I don't think you're going to find a bulkhead that small, or if you do it'll be useless. Even a 1/4" bulkhead takes a 7/8" or so hole.

I might try to fit something using part of the old piece of the in. The threadas aren't standard, but if I teflon up the threads enough and double gasket it, and cover it with silicone I for good measure it should be fine. Just trying to make it cleaner looking then that.

Thanks for the input, but still nothing at 3/4 inch hole.

Ended up just biting the bullet and drilling it out. Put two 3/4 inch bulkheads in and plumbed it out. It works great and no chance of burns on the rays.
