ok one of my 150 gal tanks has cracked. not just a small crack but a huge crack in the back corner from the top of the tank to the bottom corner.my mother is worried that just siliconing the crack isn't ganna hold. so she wants to go and completely take the whole back panel off and replace it. im asking all of you guys/gals to see if there is anything i can do to fix the crack before going and replacing the whole glass panel. if not then how difficult would it be to replace the whole back panel. the tank is about 24" tall and the crack s about 13-14" away from the side panel and closes at the bottom corner.

Well you have several options= ugly but hey it works- get another thin sheet of glass ( inside or outside, though inside would be better) and use epoxy to seal it over the glass, or you can use fiber glass. sidenote- silicone works GREAT so if you're worried it won't work then apply it, let it harden and apply a second coat over it.
well i could care less about looks. but my fish are needing a bigger tank and all thats keeping these fish out of the tank is the crack. i would rather fix it as cheap as possible, really what i was asking is would silycone keep the tank from exploding? if i were to put silycon over would it hold water without worry of any further damage. remember this tank is 150+ gallons, and need to get my fish into it before my pacu kills my oscar

as for the repair.. listen to your mother.. there is no cheap bandaid fix for a broken side pannel on a glass tank.. your best bet is to replace the piece
till then.. hit up walmart for some kiddi pools and home depot/lowes for some window screen and plywood..
