Hi experts,
I brought home this super red 2 weeks ago about 7" in size. Everything seems fine and dandy, behaving normally, eating...not a whole lot but decently.
I watch it everyday, and only about 3 days ago, I began to notice that it seems stressed out...swimming with pectorals clamped to its side, not swimming around and patrolling the tank as much, hiding in the corner and also, getting skittish. This behavior seems worse when the aquarium light is on, so I'm trying to keep the aquarium light on at a minimum.
It behaves normal at feeding time and is still eating just fine though.
I've had silvers, jardinis and albino silvers for years with lots of success but this is my first red.
Water params are 0,0,<5
Weekly wc at 40-50%
Tank size: 48"×12"×18" = 45G
Temp digitally controlled at 27C
Diet: raw shrimps, Hikari Vibra bits
Tankmates: six 2.5" clown loaches
This tank is in a high traffic area but I intend to wait till it is stable enough for me to move it into a 120G in a lighter traffic area, so I've just covered the tank up on the front side with white paper.
I also removed a flagtail that the aro was harassing.
Any ideas as to why it's stressed out and what I can do to help?
Thanks in advance
