Ok, I moved my Gymno-Balzani and Gymno-Labiatus into a bigger tank and now 1 of my Balzani is gasping and not eating. I knew I shouldn't have moved them so now i need to figure out what this is. Is it stress? I lost another Balzani a few months ago with the same symtems. Should i salt the tank and raise the temp? The current temp is 74 and the water is perfect. Any suggestions? I hate to loose another Balzani.

Please post more info. We need as many details as possible. There are many health issues that indicate similar symptoms. It is extremely dangerous to recommend treatments without assessing the actual issues.

1. What is the size of your tank?

2. What are your water parameters? State the brand of test kit used.

3. Is your aquarium set up freshwater or brackish water?

4. How long the aquarium has been set up?

5. What fish do you have? How many are in your tank? How big are they? How long have you had them?

6. Were the fish placed under quarantine period (minus the first batch from the point wherein the tank is ready to accommodate the inhabitants)?

7. What temperature is the tank water currently?

8. Are there live plants in the aquarium?

9. What filter are you using? State brand, maintenance routine and power capacity.

10. Any other equipment used (aside from heater and filter which are two very important components of the tank)?

11. Does your aquarium receive natural sunlight at any given part of the day? What is your lighting schedule (assuming you do not rely on sunlight for our viewing pleasure)?

12. When did you perform your last water change and how much water was changed? How often do you change your water? Do you vacuum the substrate?

13. What foods do you provide your fish? What is the feeding schedule?

14. What unusual signs have you observed in your fish? (Poop appearance, appetite, apearance of gills, etc)

15. Have you treated your fish ahead of diagnosis? If so, what treatments did you use? State your reasons for planning ahead of proper diagnosis.

The fish died last night. This is the second Balzani I've lost and they all came from the same source. I have a few others that I got from a different source and they are doing fine. I'm starting to wonder about the person that sold them to me. As for the above post why would i have balzani in brackish water? I never use Medication on any of my tanks. The Gymnos get a wide variety of NLS flakes, Sinking Pellets (I'm wondering if the small NLS sinking Pellets might have caused this), brine shrimp and Blood worms. The tank was at 72 but last night and I cranked it up to 82 and treated with salt. 0 amonia, Nitrates are around 25 ppm's and i don't see any thing that would cause stress. The PH is alittle different at slightly above 7 were as it was 6.8 in the other tank that I moved them from. Could this stress out a fish that fast? I think I got a bad batch of Balzani. Either that or the Baby Passiones in the tank with them are more aggressive than I realized.
