need help, gar feeding problem

The problem has jumt came up lately, my gar used to love any little live fish he can get but now, i dont know what, but something has come up. when i put live fish in, hes interested in them, bites them sto eat but then coughes or something and lets the dead fish go. he really has not been eating much. Any ideas of whats wrong and how i can fix it? thanks
 
your water params are bad, check them and start doing large water changes. what is your tank size, water params, filtration system, waterchange schedule, and livestock?
 
My gator gets the opposite problem. It devours everything drops into the water. I dare not put my hand in the water when he is hungry. Just wondering anyone ever get bitten by a gar.

I've been almost caught several times. Real close. It's going to hurt like hell if I ever get caught.

ya, when i was fishing a guy cought one about 2' long and when i was helping him take it off it grabbed my hand.... i let out a few choice words and made a wrap out of my sock to stop the blood from getting on my fishing gear and kept fishing...it hert like hell!!! it held my had for a min. or two and let go...thankfully no head shaking so i didn't need stitches.:D
