I will soon be the owner of my first monster tank. Its 20' long, 30" deep, and 24" tall, with an overflow at each end. I have ample experience with African cichlids, and now want to make the step to Cichla, so i have many questions for all you experts.
1. Where is a good place to order these guys from? I live in a remote location, so they have to be packed properly for cold weather and possibly a longish trip.
2. What would be a good number to order for starters? I would like to have a few other guys in the tank as well, but Cichla will be the primary.
3. What kind of water chemistry is best for these guys? pH, hardness, temp.
4. I know as they get bigger their diet gets bigger, but what do I feed them to start off?

Any and all help is appreciated :)

1. Here is a good place to look.
2. Start with Mono's, Ocell's. With a tank that size....15 altogether would be good.
3. I keep my Pbass at 7.0PH and at 82 degrees f.
4. Get the bass off of live ASAP....Get them eating pellets, shrimp, clams, mussels, and chicken/turkey strips.

These aren't my pics, but this is the tank.

Chicken and turkey=bad. Stick with what they would be eating in the wild. Ie: fish, crustaceans and insects. And wow, that tank is hella awesome.

Wow, that tank is nuts!!

That is going to be sweet! What are you going to filter it with?
