Need Help - ID Please

I found this fish today at the LFS. The lady told me it was a "Dragon eel." I told her it looked like a Birchir. She had no clue what I was talking about. I decided to go ahead and adopt this little guy for my 55 gallon tank. It cost me $1.00. Can anyone confirm if this fish is infact a BIRCHIR. And if it is, what kind is it?

Hopefully my pic's come out ok. This is the first time I have ever posted pic's on this site.

thanks for the info...I'm assuming that the 1.00 adoption fee was a steal....I see people on MFK with these guys but I dont know if I have ever seen what one costs at a LFS.
 
That Bichir was a gift at $1.00 .. may as well of just gave it to you.. :D:D
