If I did not test my water...
  1. ...I recognize that I will likely be asked to do a test, and that water tests are critical for solving freshwater health problems.

Noticed an injury on this guy a couple weeks ago and it has probably been infected as if it wasn’t it would have already healed by now. It hasn’t gotta much better or worse so I’ve been trying to treat it with clean water.

Then earlier today I noticed this one giant danio in my group of 5 had a similiar infection in a similar place but I never noticed any sort of wound on him prior. He is now dead the same day I took this photo. He looked like he could’ve been saved earlier today though it happened pretty quickly so I’d like get this figured out before I lose any more fish. I suspect bacterial infection.

Try some triple sulfa. Check the water.

That wound is pretty nasty. Probably not much could have been done but next time use some betadine gel applied directly on the wound (so net fish, pull out of water and dab on until it stains, no need to remove fish from net).

Betadine will treat viral, fungal and bacterial issues and if directly applied will be a high concentration yet not damage your tanks bio filter. Do need to catch the issue early.
