Male mesoheros festae cichlid (red terror).
One of the meanest (and best looking) cichlids, males can get up to 20 inches. 15 is probably more common.

thanks for the reply.
It was sold to me as a Trimac- which is why i am prepared with the big tank..

Its a small 55 long.. i have 4 tetras/blue acara/keyhole cichlid/blue JD/ all small 3’ to 4’.. not a permanent set-up.. using it a grow out for a few weeks

You may have territorial issues so keep your eye on them.

Dude.. tell me about it.. red terror is already trying to take over both sides of the tank.. i have a 120 im setting up for him - should have him in there by weeks end..

You will have to remove the Red Terror or it will kill the other Cichlids.

Below is a half grown male about 12", your would eventually need a 120 gal to itself
below a similar aged couple of females
in the pic above,, the black in the dorsal is a female indication give-a-way
below another shot of a female, the blue in the dorsal
Males don't have melanin in the dorsal, but do have an array of blue spots, females don't have.

Mesoheros festae will eventually eat the tetras, and kill your other cichlids, they are no match for it
