Need help identifying these Snakeheads

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
HI,

something out of the marulia/marulioides complex.

Channa sp. "isabella" was a trade name.

Brucki

I agree with Brucki - Ch. Marulioides or Marulius

If you can find out what the origin of the fish is then it would be a lot easier to establish.

Emperor Snakehead are only native in Malysia and Indonesia.

Cobras are native in Thailand, India, Pakistan, Myanmar etc. etc. (and Florida :D)

cheers,
Peter

ps. Brucki: Could it be Ch. Melasoma ???

hi mate channa pseudomarulia is part of the marulia complex and is sometimes sold under the trade name Channa sp. "isabella" as brucki pointed out , see the the link for pictures of when it has coloured up some , i was uncertain what it was at 1st but pascal pinned it down for me http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140921

note the slightly diferant shape head to normal and lack of eye spot on the tail fin (most of the marulia and Marulioides show some sort of eye spot

cheers col

I find the Marulia complex very interesting - there's so many variants and they are extremely hard to ID from eachother....

Thank god for Pascal - he truly is a SH expert :D

Anyway very nice collection of SH you got! :) Hope your job-problems gets sorted out soon.
