Hi Guys/Gals,
I need help id'ing these 2 eartheaters. My guess is the first fishes are altifrons and the 2nd fish is a steindachneri. Bought the first fishes as jurupari but there's a hint of red in the fins and the black dot in the middle of the body, so I'm assuming its altifrons. Took pics of them still in the bag so they are pretty stressed. The 2nd fish just looks like a steindachneri to me. But I'm a noob to Eartheaters so my guess isn't that great....:grinno:
Thanks for the help.

Yup, the second is a steiny ... won't even guess at the first until I get that eartheater book. *lol*

Looks like you IDed them correctly, but as previously stated you'll have to wait till they get older to correctly ID the geos that look like altifrons. BTW gorgeous fish!

I purchased 3 fish that look very very simliar to what you have in the bag 4-5 months ago. They are actually pretty fast growers as I bought mine at 2 inch size and today they are 4 inches. I believe they are either Abalios or Altifrons. Let me know and I will send you pics.

You got these at Tong's??

I think your right on the money about your guesses.

I got the steiny at Tong's, awesome price BTW...:grinno:
The other fishes I got from another LFS, they labeled them as jurupari and the owner guaranteed me 100% they are jurupari. I told him it doesn't look like a jurupari.

Ron, can you post pics of your fishes on this thread? I'm sure everyone here would love to see some pics of your beauties.....:grinno:
I'll compare your pics to the fishes I got, they are starting to grow with plenty of bloodworms in their stomach.

Here's the pics I promised you. Sorry for the nosy colony of Jurupari as they are so curious. As I said before, your new fishes look very close if not the same as when I bought these. Enjoy!

Thanks Ron! My fishes do look like the ones you just posted. Did you ever get a definite answer to which fish it is?
