I've bought a 3" flagtail 8 months ago, but up until now it is still not growing much, it is now just approx. 4-5"! I fed him bloodworms(before), tetra sinking pellets(now), and mp sometimes, and I don't know why, although he ate a lot, he is still very thin compare to others that I saw on the net.

I've read a lot of threads about flagtails on other forum, but I can't find other's having the same case us mine! They all have their flagtails to grow from this much to that much easily in a short period of time and I really envy them! How I wish that mine could grew in that rate too!:(

I tried to ask the owner of the petshop where I bought the fish, he just keep telling me that "it takes years for them to grow, blahblahblah....".

Any suggestion or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!:)

The problem is in his diet! Flagtails eat mainly soft algae. Try giving him some lettuce, algae wafers, or maybe some of that SFB brand herbivore mix :)

Don't boil anything. It takes nutrients away. I had one go from 3 inches to 11 in two years. Weekly water changes is the key. Also make sure it is not being picked on. I kept mine with rainbows and sd's.

how do I prepare the lettuce?just tie it with a rock?
Stick a fork in it buddy;)
Mine went from 2.5" to 7" in about 8 months on a diet of shrimp, talapia, massivore pellets and hikari algea waffers.
