So I've got a 150 gallon tank with my Pleco and Jack Dempsey inside, but my loisellei is still in the 55 gallon. This is because Ive heard that you add the smaller fish first to get them accustomed to the tank so they know the surroundings better than a newcommer meanie.

Well, Ive been trying to find some other fish that would work in my 150 such as some Jaguars, large Oscars or maybe a Texas or something. This fish would have to be on the larger side because my loisellei is a meanie, he likes to be the boss. This also means that I have to add this fish before my loisellei.

I have had no luck in finding any such fish- petstores sell them way too small (1.5"- 4"), and my local craigslist has few fish postings...

Im starting to feel bad for my loisellei because I got the large tank for him and he's still not in it, and the truth is that the 55 is getting small.

So, what im asking is: Should I keep my loisellei in the 55 until I find a larger fish which may take a while, or should I put him in the 150 and grow out smaller fish in the 55 until they are larger to be in the 150?

Any advice or opinions?

Be honest.

How big is the Loisellei?

I'd go ahead an put him in the big tank. worry about tankmates later on.

sometimes it depends on the individual fish. Add a few new decorations and move things around a bit to reduce the territoriality. The fish may learn to get along while checking out the "new" to everybody tank. This is your favorite fish so should be the one your concentrating on...you still have the 55 in reserve just in case.
