First off, Hello, My name is Jared and I have been into General Aquaria and reef keeping for about 15 years. I have a pretty good understanding of the hobby.
A little about my project. Now I have engineered Drawings so I have precise numbers, please dont poke fun, LOL. Also, i want to prefface the following with this.
""""" This Project is in the very beginning stages, When it Starts I will Have a Build Thread.""""""""
I am currently under construction on the building that will house my new Man Cave/Fish Room. The "Centerpiece" of the project is a 4,347 gallon Marine Display tank (Similar construction technike to Black Tips World famous 1700g shark tank) it will utilize a 512 gallon Sump, and a ATS (Algae Turf Scrubber) For the main filtration. With the Plumbing, ATS, and Sump current total volume is 4972 gallons. I want the "Ultimate" Low maintenence filtration system. So on to the question, What other filtration would you add? obviuosly the large scale of this project demands a lot of DIY. I was thinking, Activated Carbon Reactor and Fluidized bed filter but it leaves me feeling like i am lacking mechanical filtration. Opinions?????? Second Question is for some of the guys that have taken on a large project similar to this. LIGHTING??? I would love to be able to make this a reef tank, but for the life of me I cannot think of a light (other than the sun) that will penetrate 8' of water depth with enough intensity to grow Coral.
Thank you and opinions are appreciated.
