I am building my first sump and need help selecting a pump. The tank is a 65 gal and 20L three baffle sump. The overflow box is an eshopps pf-800. I need help selecting a pump that would best match that flow. It will be pumping about 5 feet. I had a mag drive pump unknown on model that was given to me by a friend, but that had way to much flow. Even with the valve practically closed it drained the sump in a matter of minutes with th overflow wide open. I have 1" plumbing both ways. Thanks.

the math works, but I don't have any experience with either item. as long as the pump doesn't exceed the capacity of the overflow you should be good.

OK corrected for below.

I assume that you are getting a full siphon off the tank and that everything else is set up correctly. If you are, then the pump sounds like it's too much.

Considering your system has about 80 gallons in it and that overflow handles 800g max you're gonna want a pump that moves 560-750g of water at 7 feet of head.

Sent from my mind to my fingers to my phone to the MFK servers to you
