I need to bring in my next tank--300g glass setup. How many people would I need to safely transport this thing? Are there any friendly local hobbysts from Chicago NW suburbs who would kindly help me out? ;) I'm live in Wauconda, IL.

My appreciation gift will be any of the following per person:

1. Pair of 42" Oceanic Strip Light Case
2. Assortment of all of my malaysian driftwood (search for my tank pics with dovii and arowana in it)
3. Fully cultured Hydro sponge filters (largest ones made by Hydro, two pieces)
4. Largest Penguin air pump (but used with rubber band strap after the upper case fell off)
5. Coralife UV (non turbo twist) with new UV bulb
6. Powerhead (Maxi Jet, largest one)
7. A rare small pleco under my sig. :naughty:
8. Anything else I didn't mention? Just ask :D

Depends.... we moved my 265 glass with 2 guys but we are good sized 250 pounds +.

You will need at least 4 guys but the hardest part is comming through the door.... one guy on each end but as you come through the doorway the guys on the sides will have to let go so if you can get 6 guys it would be the best that way 2 "side guys" can be on the inside of the room that you are moving into and when the "side guys" in the room you are leaving let go the next guys can help.

Hope it helps, when are you going to be doing this?

Everyone's on the north side. If I were closer Id help you out. I agree with what repair said, 4 people would suffice. If it were a short distance and you were desperate I'd say it could be done with 2 people and a little muscle.

Chris

Let me know when you would like to move it, and Ill give ya a hand.........

You don't have to give me anything, Ill just give ya a hand, as long as it fits into my scheduele.

I got to talk to ya about the eheims anyways.

Wow, thanks Chris. I will also return the favor in one way or another! It'll have to be during one of the weekends. I will post final pick up date as soon as my 210g clears out.

So what does a 300 weigh? 600+ ? I would help, but I weigh 170lbs with my pockets full of change. Probably just get in the way. Although I did some how manage to hoist my 150 onto its stand by myself this weekend.

If you really need help though, send me a PM. I am up in the city almost every weekend, so if your short a guy, let me know.

The more the better, I think 6 would be easiest.
My experience
180 = 2
280 = 4, hard with stairs.
550 = 8 people and only lifted on whole thing at once for a few seconds. we used inflated truck tires to slide across. We think the glass alone is 2000 lbs plus.

If I lived there I'd give ya a hand, good luck with your move.
