i just bought a 60 gallon tank... the water has been cycling for 2 days already... wondering when can i put a arowana in my tank... and how do i know my water is okay to throw fish in... and what water temp should i have it at? thanks

where do I begin.... firstly, the process of cycling takes weeks, not days. the only way to know would be to purchase a water testing kit and perform ammonia, nitrite and nitrate tests. if ammonia and nitrite levels have risen and fell (a reading of 0 ppm), then you're pretty much done with the cycling process.

if you want to keep arowanas, you should have a temperature of 78 to 82 F... depending on your room temperature.

Arowana are not fish that should be kept by beginning fish keepers. Not to mention that the aro will out grow a 60g tank with in a few months.

This here is a good read regarding the nitrogen cycle in the aquarium
