My fresh water tanks NO2 & NO3 are up the wall, why is that? My last water change was about 4 days ago and about 30% of the water was changed, added the A.S and the bacteria…
No way I need 3 water refreshment in 2 weeks !!! :WHOA:

What?

We will need more info

How big is your tank?
Stock?
Is the tank cycled?

Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate reading?
What conditioners you use?
Any medication recently?

Using my phychic powers, I'm going to recommend more water changes for your tank. If you have no ammonia and a reasonable stocking level, that is.

30% four days ago? Big deal.

Do 50-80% for two or three days in a row and rinse all your filter media.

Once it's out of hand, regular maintenance won't cut it. Sextuple your efforts for a few days til things are back in the 5-10ppm range and then you should be safe to resume your regular maintenance schedule.

Just assumed he wasn't brand new to fish keeping. Brand new people tend not to sign up here.

Also, I may have missed/ignored the part about nitrite.

Still, if he's got a ton of nitrAte and the source is puzzling, usually it's because there's lots of gunk in the filter.

If there's suddenly a spike in both in an established tank, maybe there was an overfeeding, a dead fish, or enough new stock to put it well beyond the capabilities of the filter.

You knew all this, of course. But maybe he didn't.
