Well I have my 4 geo's for a while now and i believe two had pair up but did not breed because i just put in my bro-inlaw's 10+ vieja syn. and i guess they just get too scared of him. So just wandering if anyone can help me on getting them to breed with or without the other fish in there.

it sounds you already know what the answer is so i'm going to leave you to decide how you want to deal with that external factor that is clearly preventing things from happening...

I don't breed fish but my red heads have laid eggs a couple of times, all I do is keep temp at 79 do 50% water changes weekly and provide them with caves which is where they have laid their eggs. Since I don't breed my fish I haven't removed any other fish so they eggs were eaten before they hatched so I can't say for sure they were fertilized but eggs were laid and the dominant male was acting like he knew what he was doing.

There are "Orange Head Tapajos" which is one species... Then there is a different speceis Geo Steindachneri which is commonly referred to as "Red Head Geos"...

I have a large group of Steinys (Red Hump) in my 125 gal and they breed constantly. The mother holds the fry in her mouth to protect them and because of the dense stockign of Geos and other fish in the tank I never see Geo fry in the tank. But I always have a few mothers holding fry in their mouthes and occasionally pull thm and strip the fry (strip meaning make the mother spit them into a container so I can raise the fry elsewhere myself).

thanks everyone but to be clear i dont know how to promote them to breed since the vieja have bred w/ my bp, with no luck, in the tank...its been a year now for my male red/orange head and still no babies...Does anyone know any breeding patterns before they laid their eggs? any signs of affection towards each other? water parameters? tank mate aggression meaning when breeding do they get super aggressive towards other fish?
Info on what i notice so far:
My male and female did flare up at each other before i added the vieja into the mix and did pick out a spot at the corner but no eggs and its been months but now it seems like the pair have been doing nothing. The male chases everyone of the other females in the tank but no breeding signs at all...or did i messed up on adding the vieja?

I wonder if you are going to keep asking until someone tells you otherwise, but there's virtually no chance that the OHs would try to spawn when they share a 75g tank with a 11" syns and a BP that are trying to breed....
