NEED HELP ON FISH ID!!

I realize these pics really suck, but it was a friends camera and it had a digital focus that we could not figure out. But i bought this fish at the LFS oday and they said it was a jewwel cichlid...however i do not think that it is. the piics suck but if u think you know wat it might be just let me know

cool preciate the ID...does anyone know anything abou them? he is in a 90 gallon tank by himself right now...how big will he get and what are some suggested tankmates? I assume he is not rare, correct?
