Hello this is my first start on Saltwater...as im usually a Freshwater enthusius.Im planning on using my 75 gallon that used to be used for my growout of my umbees =] I dont want any corals in the tank....but a maybe 40-50 pounds of live rock and live sand will be used.Im going to be those with the Hydrometer. What kind of powerhead should I use for the 75 gallon to add a current to the whole tank? My filtrations will be 2 large 55 gallon barrel filters. My other questions are the fishes...I want to have a Dwarf Lionfish,Antennata Lionfish,And either a Panther Grouper or a Spotted Grouper or can all 4 fishes go together in the 75? Please let me know if they can go together =] Also let me know what I else I would be needing in the tank Thanks

Maybe just these Dwarf Lionfish,Antennata Lionfish and a Spotted Grouper...will that work? I read through some of the Threads about the Panther Groupers...and they get kinda big...a guy a while ago was selling his 13" er for $10

I would think. I've had a lionfish and Panther grouper together before. Both were about the same size (6-7" at their biggest). I never had any problems between them. Eventually they died of an unknown disease but anyways they were good buddies.

Groupers can get large and in charge though. Both that and the Lionfish in a 75 might push it in the long run.

oh...what if i buy a 120 gallon and make it saltwater? Can I have the Panther Grouper and the Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish? Since the Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish only attains about 6-8" for an adult.(Im not getting a Volitan Lionfish...i want to but they get too big...16"+

i would purchase a standard 125 gallon and then you can have your lion and grouper. IMO i think you have some room left and you could add another slightly smaller fish. Now the barrel filter, are those canisters?? if so keep them clean. clean them at least twice a week, otherwise your water will start to go down the drain sorta speak. This could increase the chance of an outbreak in disease and what not. Im going to mention the use of RO water as well. I feel that using the best of everything then you going to have a much better tank. You may also cut the maintanence on your tank down.

That would definitely be better. When in doubt, go with the larger tank. Worst case is you are understocked. The panther can get over a foot (almost a foot and a half i believe). So a smaller lion is a good idea.

ok a 125 it is when I could get it...also im in no rush in getting them as i still have my freshwater tanks to keep an eye on

are you getting the tank drilled and getting a sump??? because if you do go with some tank busters your really gunna need it.
