Hey everyone! Some of you know that my fish population was drastically reduced involuntarily. So this is what I have left: 1 yellow and 1 brown bullhead catfish both 12 inches. 1 bluegill 7 inches. 1 Red-ear sunfish 5 inches. 5 green sunfish ranging from 4-6 inches. I am going fishing this Saturday and might bring back a few. I have been told there is walleye, bass, bream, perch and catfish. Are walleye or perch compatible with any of these fish? Thanks. Sorry-100 gallon stock tank(empty) and a 125 with all of the fish I posted minus the yellow bullhead.

Walleye or bass can do all right with the fish you already have in a big tank, like the ones at Bass Pro or Cabela stores, as long as the other fish are too big to be eaten. However, your tanks are nowhere big enough to keep either species, even if you got rid of the other fish.

Perch do all right with centrarchids from what I have heard- never kept them myself. I think your 125 is pretty fully stocked already.

I agree with Noto. Unless you plan to put some of your stock into the stock tank.

Well thanks for the help. I am thinking about getting a 180, that is up for sale. Still not sure if the a 180 is big enough for a walleye or a perch. Also, does anyone know if a walleye or a perch would grow and eventually eat my 12 inch catfish? If the answer is yes, then I won't get either.

The walleye will still grow to be to large for a 180.With an avergae size of 16 to 22 inches and can grow up to 36 inches. A yellow perch on the other hand should be fine in a 180.They average 6 to 12 inches but can reach 16 inches.

Yeah, the perch will be no threat to your catfish. The opposite is more likely- bullheads can be nasty.

Walleye and Perch both prefer cooler temperatures and will not thrive at the higher temperatures that the other natives that you listed will. If your location is the (USA) Georgia, I believe that you would need a chiller to comfortably home these fish. They also need a higher dissolved oxygen rate that most warmer water setups would provide. You definatley want to provide substancial airation if you attempt to keep these species at warmer temperatures.

Perch are less "non-compatible" IMO, and it would probably work out fine as long as you provide substancial airation.

Thanks everyone and wish me luck in the morning! Does anyone have any suggestions on catching perch? I have bought large red wigglers, wax worms, large crickets, bass and crappie minnows. No wood in the water. Rules also say no artificial lures. Maybe I can catch a perch or I would be happy with more bullheads.

Hey Rays, I've owned more yellow perch then any other fish ha. I current have a 72gallon right now with 2 yellow perch 1 black crappie, 1 Pseed, 2dollar sunfish. they do well together. the only aggression i've seen is between the biggest yellow perch and the minnows in the tank (they love to eat live minnows, but i managed to get two shiners that they cant eat) i really like the look of them and they are very friendly too. I think you will catch them on anything, i have most luck with worms.

I used to catch perch all the time in a pond behind my backyard with a small hook and a little ball of bread. Not sure which type of perch they are, but they loved those bread balls. Maybe look into trying some of those if what you have doesn't work out for you.
