I have a 72 gallon bow front tank. If the gallonage of a tank is weird, it usually means, stand is weird + tank is weird = PROBLEMS!

I couldn't find any sites of internal dimensions of this stand so I tried my self lol. The inner dimensions are (L x W x H) 44 inches by 10 1/2 inches by 27 1/2 inches.

Well the new store that opened up in Yonkers custom made all of thier sumps, and ever tank is hooked to a giant sump, except for a 220 gallon tank which I think is hooked up to a 100 gallon sump. Well they said they could custom make one for, because I'm trying to avoid building my own lol.

Well the questions I have are:

What size tank should I use under the sump?

How many baffles should I get?

What should be the spacing of the baffles?

What should be in each baffle?

I'm also looking into making a section for the of plants for nitrate reasonings will it work (I've seen it, but hoping their will be room)?

What skimmer should I have in their (I'm thinking about reef devil brand pricey, but seems worthy)?

Any other equipment needed for a sump (I heard something about filter socks etc.)?

I'm sorry for the questions as this seems similar to another thread, but I'm trying to make sure cause I got the "ok" from mom which we all defiantly know is important lol.

Here's a picture of the stand:

Not my tank stand lol Thank you guys very much, also I'm pretty sure a 20 gallon tank can fit under thier. I'm checking on youtube to see if thier is sumps under 72s.

I think you are getting help from cliff on this one, and he is a much better authority on the subject than I am, as I am in the process of building my first SW aquarium sump as we speak.

Bigger is better in my mind...and you want a place for your heater, skimmer, airstone, and macros...that is basically the purpose at least for me.

Ok cool thanks fleshy, yeah I'm pming cliff. I need to think of a tank to use, measure and do some other stuff. By any chance do you now if getting a big over flow box is a good idea?....I could get a cs90 rated for a 125 gallon tank....but I don't mind spending another $10 for a cs100 rated for 175 gallons....or even a cs102 rated for 250 gallons for another $3.....probably a question for cliff ;)

More flow is always better, but it means a bigger pump as well. Your overflow should always be rated for more gallons than your return pump, however they should be pretty close.

my 240 is going to have a basic sump, flows to filter socks and skimmer in on compartment, and the live rock heater and pump will be in the other one. and its a 5ft long 45 gallon tank.
