Last night I heard some noises in the tank, splashes in the water etc.
Now I was checking my Oscar today and he has a small piece skin of his head, guess he bumped into something, that isnt a big problem though.
The bigger problem is that his right eye is swollen!
Its really big, he looks like a goldfish with those swollen eyes...

Here is a picture I took 5 days ago, his eye was fine back then.
I marked the swollen piece of his eye.
In between the red circles, where the arrow is pointing, is swollen now.
Ill try to make a picture of the swollen eye, though its not easy to make good pictures of him.

Can anyone tell me what this swollen eye could mean?
Did he just bumped into something last night?

Ok made some pictures now.
As you can see his iris looks damaged also. I think he is blind now?
I hope I want lose my O! Anyone can tell me what happened to him?

Forgot to mention fellow inhabitants of tank:
Uaru, GT female, Comon Pleco
125gallon tank

Yesterday O his eye was just fine.
Im thinking he might be attacked by someone this night? That was the sound of splashing I heard?
Or he hurt himself?
I dont think its popeye or is it?

Water temp: 26°C
PH: 7,5
NO2: 0,0
gH: 18
kH: 11

Looks to be popeye.....if so, his eye fall out in the next couple of weeks....other than being blind in one eye, he should be fine. Good Luck!

Yesterday his eye was just fine. He gets alot of different food plus I add extra vitamines to the water.
I do regular water changes, the water parameters prove the water is fine.
The fish doesnt have stress and he isnt harassed by other fish. He is the ruler of the tank.

Are you 100% sure this is popeye? How can you tell it is popeye?

EDIT: So the disease can happen in less then 10hours? From normal eye to popped eye?

I've seen an albino Oscar at a lfs with popeye, it looked the same as yours, his eye fell out a few weeks later, since then he's been doing fine..

Ok, but how does popeye happens then?
Water paramaters are fine, he gets extra vitamines, no stress, big enough tank, not being harrased by others,...?
I cant understand how it happened. And how fast it happened! In less then 10 hours...!

And is there nothing I have to do to help him?
Like adding salt? But what kind of salt? Kitchen salt?

Thanks for the help!

I've heard there's no way to prevent it, it's just one of those things that happens.

Ok I see. Well he didnt lost his appetite, he keeps eating like he was doing before.

So I shouldnt add anything to the water?

You are saying his eye will fall out, so will he look ugly then?

You should post this in the Freshwater Diseases and Health Issues forum. you'll get better response over there.
