I just got back from being a week away. And found my blue hippo that is the bottom of the tank dead. And my other fish look like they have ich. How can I treat them keeping in mind I have a bamboo shark in the tank with them?

we need more info on the tank, the sharks size, do u have another tank that it can hold the shark while treatment is in place? also will the water be safe afterwards for the shark to be return to the main tank it was originally was

My flame angel got fin rot something fierce after being beaten up and another fish dying, so I did several huge water changes, the biggest being like a 95% water change. Then I treated Melafix per the instructions on the bottle. I just checked the bottle, says its for "Bacterial infections" including whatever "Body slime" is. I'm not sure where the ich fits in, but I thought it was amazing. After 24 hours, my angel looked a million times better. Its all natural too so should be shark safe. Wait for a more experienced opinion, but its something to look into in the mean time, if you haven't already.

Marine Ick is a beach - 4 life stages to this parasite making it almost impossible to treat in the display tank. Cletted cooper will kill the ick but will kill the B+B and probably the shark too. Then to make a bad situation worse the cooper sticks to the rocks. Your gonna have to remove all the fish save the shark - treat them in a seperate tank and hold them there for 8 weeks.

Both Mela and Pim- fix are useless against marine Ick - Herbtana is a better homeopathic solution.

ohhh...stoopit.... here it comes... why? Are they just not the right set of chemicals or whatever? And I've never heard of "Herbtana" - when you say a better homepoathic solution, do you mean in place of the melafix?

Hmmmm - best always start by thourghly reading the bottle -

Melafix(tea tree leaf extract) and Pimafix(Bay Tree leaf extract) are all natural meds for Fungal and bacterial infections. Both promote slime coat regeneration. Marine Ick is different than fresh it gets under the slime coat and under the scales.

Herbtana(multiple herbs) is a reef safe all natural med for external Parasites and aids in the natural rebuilding of the fishes immune system - Ick is a parasite not fungus or bacteria. Herbtana is a microbe lift - it removes the parasite from the fish it is also a long treatment.

Homeopathic = 100% natural no chemicals added.

And no I won't "stop it"

Oh! I'm sorry. That's not what I meant, I meant "Stoopit," as in "Stupid." "That's stupid that it doesn't treat that." It came from my mom cuz she pronounces words funny like that. I say it to drive her nuts and catch myself typing it cuz I say it and just didn't catch it to change it. I wasn't telling you to stop anything. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I really appreciate and respect your advice, I'd never tell you to "Stop it!" :)

Thank you for your explanation.
