They appear to have the same head structure so I was leaning to both being males, until I saw one doing mating dances.
Really bad pictures, but what do you think?

Hard to tell from the pictures. The female will have a pink triangle ovipositor. Here's my rainbow collection.

Rainbow Cichlid (Herotilapia multispinosa)

I have a group of 5 Rainbows in a 60g cube. There have been multiple spawns but this is the first viable and they are now free swimming. I do not know when the spawn occurred. Occupants include about a dozen Harlequin rasbora and 6 ish juvenile BNP.

What are your params?
 
When I had breeding pairs, because in nature, they fan out onto the flooded grasslands in Costa Rica, I put half a dozen pairs in a400 gal kiddy pool with only about 6-8" of water. Water Hardness 250m/L, pH 7.8,
They would all spawn around the same time.
Here's a couple fry at @ 1/2"
